Harry Kane’s record-breaking spree leads Bayern to another win

Kane scores hat-trick against Dortmund

Harry Kane continued his sensational scoring form for Bayern Munich as he netted a hat-trick in a 4-0 thrashing of Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. The England captain, who joined the Bundesliga champions from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, has now scored 15 goals in 10 league games, breaking the record for the most goals in the first 10 games of a Bundesliga campaign. Kane also became the first player to score three hat-tricks in a single Bundesliga season, surpassing the likes of Gerd Muller, Robert Lewandowski and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kane opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a powerful header from a Thomas Muller cross, then doubled his tally in the 34th minute with a clinical finish from a Leroy Sane pass. He completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute with a penalty after he was fouled by Mats Hummels. Bayern’s fourth goal came from Serge Gnabry, who tapped in a rebound from a Kane shot in the 77th minute.

Bayern extend lead at the top

The emphatic win over Dortmund, who are considered one of Bayern’s main rivals for the title, extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points. Bayern have won nine of their 10 league games under new manager Thomas Tuchel, who replaced Hansi Flick in the summer. Tuchel has praised Kane’s impact and said he is the perfect fit for his system.

Harry Kane’s record-breaking spree leads Bayern to another win

“Harry is a world-class striker and a fantastic professional. He works hard for the team, he creates chances, he scores goals. He is a leader on and off the pitch. He is the type of player that every coach wants to have,” Tuchel said after the game.

Kane, who has also scored six goals in four Champions League games for Bayern, said he is enjoying his new challenge and hopes to win more trophies with his new club.

“I came here to win titles and to play at the highest level. I have settled in well and I have a great relationship with the coach and the players. We have a strong squad and we are confident in every game. We want to keep this momentum going and achieve our goals,” Kane said.

Dortmund fall behind in the race

Dortmund, on the other hand, suffered their third league defeat of the season and dropped to fourth place, 10 points behind Bayern. Dortmund have been inconsistent under new coach Marco Rose, who replaced Edin Terzic in the summer. Rose has been criticised for his defensive tactics and his inability to get the best out of star players like Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho and Marco Reus.

Haaland, who was linked with a move to Bayern in the summer, was kept quiet by Bayern’s defence and failed to register a shot on target. Sancho, who returned to Dortmund after a failed move to Manchester United, was substituted in the second half after a poor performance. Reus, who is Dortmund’s captain and longest-serving player, was also ineffective and missed a penalty in the 58th minute.

Rose admitted that his team were outplayed by Bayern and said they need to improve their mentality and consistency.

“We have to accept that Bayern were the better team today. They were more aggressive, more clinical, more dominant. We made too many mistakes and we gave them too much space. We have to work on our game and our attitude. We have to show more character and more quality. We have to bounce back and fight for our position,” Rose said.
