Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar has invited the business community of Islamabad to invest in the province, which he said is endowed with great natural resources and is the gateway to Asia. He was addressing the business role model award ceremony at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Sunday.
Balochistan offers great potential for investors
The governor said that Balochistan has great potential for investors, especially in the sectors of mining, energy, agriculture, fisheries, tourism and infrastructure. He said that the province has rich mineral resources, including Reko Diq and Saindak projects, which can generate huge revenues for the country. He also mentioned that Balochistan is the key part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has increased the importance of the province as a trade and transit hub.
He said that Balochistan is a poor province and needs the support of the business community to uplift its economy and create employment opportunities for its people. He assured that the provincial government will provide all possible facilities and incentives to the investors who want to do business and invest in Balochistan.
Business community lauds governor’s initiative
The president of ICCI, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, appreciated the governor’s initiative to reach out to the business community and invite them to invest in Balochistan. He said that the business community plays a vital role in the development of the economy by doing business and investment and their only demand is to get their rights. He assured that the business community will provide all possible support to achieve the objectives of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which was recently established by Prime Minister Imran Khan to promote domestic and foreign investment in Pakistan.
He also appealed to all the political parties to present their economic manifesto at ICCI and share their vision for the country’s economic development. He urged the prime minister and the army chief to establish peace in Balochistan so that the province could move towards prosperity. He said that Gwadar can change the destiny of Pakistan but development work in it is slow and needs to be accelerated.
Business leaders receive awards
At the end of the event, the governor distributed awards to the business leaders of various markets in recognition of their valuable services to the traders. The awards were given in different categories, such as best entrepreneur, best innovator, best social worker, best environmentalist, best women empowerment activist and best youth leader. The governor congratulated the awardees and hoped that they will continue to serve as role models for others.
