With the Delhi Assembly elections just a week away, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal unveiled his party’s 15-point manifesto, dubbed “Kejriwal’s Pakki Guarantees,” on January 27, 2025. The former Chief Minister presented this as a roadmap for Delhi’s future, aiming to woo voters by addressing key issues such as employment, education, healthcare, and financial relief for families.
Highlights of AAP’s 2025 Manifesto
- Job Creation as Top Priority
Kejriwal’s first promise focused on tackling unemployment, a recurring concern among Delhi’s youth. “No citizen will be left without a job,” he assured, pledging robust plans to generate employment opportunities with the help of an educated team, including party leaders Manish Sisodia and Atishi. - Financial Assistance to Women
The Mahila Samman Yojana promises ₹2,100 monthly financial aid to all women in Delhi, aiming to provide economic independence and alleviate household expenses. - Healthcare for Seniors
The Sanjeevani Yojana will offer free healthcare services for citizens aged 60 and above, underscoring AAP’s commitment to accessible medical facilities. - Reduced Living Costs
- Waiving inflated water bills.
- 50% concession on Delhi Metro fares.
- Free bus travel for all students.
- Scholarship for Dalit Students
The Ambedkar Scholarship promises financial support for Dalit students pursuing higher education, aiming to reduce educational disparities.
Kejriwal’s Swipe at BJP
In his speech, Kejriwal criticized the BJP for failing to fulfill its previous promises, calling their manifestos “chunavi jumle” (empty election rhetoric). He specifically referenced the BJP’s unkept promise of depositing ₹15,000 in people’s bank accounts, citing Union Minister Amit Shah’s dismissal of the pledge as a campaign gimmick.
Acknowledging Past Shortcomings
Kejriwal also addressed the AAP government’s unmet promises from the 2020 elections, including improvements to the Yamuna River and Delhi’s road infrastructure. He issued an apology to the public but assured voters that these challenges would be resolved if AAP returns to power.
Focus on Savings
Kejriwal claimed that the measures proposed in the manifesto could help Delhi households save up to ₹25,000 every month. “We will ensure that no family in Delhi struggles to make ends meet,” he stated, emphasizing affordability as a core part of AAP’s vision.
Significance of the 2025 Elections
This election is set to be a high-stakes battle between AAP, which has ruled Delhi for the past decade, and the BJP, which is looking to expand its influence in the national capital. AAP’s focus on social welfare and basic services seeks to strengthen its grassroots support, particularly among women, youth, and underprivileged communities.
