Electricity crews in Georgia are battling against time and harsh conditions to restore power in several regions left in the dark after a severe storm battered the western part of the country. Energo-Pro Georgia, the company responsible for electricity distribution, has mobilized emergency teams and reinforced its workforce with additional electricians from across the nation.
Widespread Power Outages Leave Villages Struggling
Some of the worst-hit areas include Guria, Kobuleti, Khoni, Vani, Martvili, and Abasha. Entire villages in these regions have been without power since the storm struck, leaving thousands of residents in freezing conditions. The extent of the damage is significant, with fallen trees and heavy snowfall taking down power lines and affecting other energy infrastructure.
In several locations, reaching the damaged sites has been nearly impossible. “The snow-covered roads make it difficult for heavy equipment to pass through,” an Energo-Pro Georgia representative explained. “In some cases, even our crews on foot can’t access certain areas.”
Teams Working Around the Clock Amid Harsh Conditions
Despite these challenges, repair work is ongoing. The company has deployed emergency teams with specialized equipment to deal with the destruction left in the storm’s wake. The operation requires a coordinated effort between local authorities, road clearance teams, and emergency responders to clear debris and allow access for repairs.

How Long Will It Take to Fully Restore Power?
While emergency teams have already restored electricity in some locations, full recovery could take several days. Authorities are urging residents to remain patient as crews work through difficult conditions to complete repairs.
In previous severe weather events, similar outages took anywhere from 48 hours to a week to fully resolve, depending on the extent of infrastructure damage and weather conditions. Based on current assessments, the hardest-hit villages may require several days before full restoration is achieved.
Energo-Pro Georgia has pledged to keep residents updated on progress and has set up emergency response lines for those in need of assistance. The company also warned that further bad weather could slow down efforts, but teams remain committed to getting power back as soon as possible.
