SMYRNA — A new coffee shop has officially made its mark in town, and locals are already buzzing about it. Smyrna Coffee, nestled on Atlanta Road, opened its doors Friday and was immediately met with an overwhelming wave of support from the community.
Owner Gabriela Diaz Miles was moved by the response. “I loved it. I was surprised, but I love it though,” she said. “It makes me emotional … Everybody has no idea, so I really appreciate it. I really wasn’t expecting it.”
A Menu with Local Flavor
For coffee lovers, Smyrna Coffee offers a full lineup of classics, from rich espressos to smooth macchiatos and refreshing cold brews. But what’s really catching customers’ attention? Their specialty lattes, especially the brown butter toffee and caramel varieties.
“The brown butter toffee latte is a big hit,” Diaz Miles shared. “It’s a shot of espresso, the customer’s milk of choice, and our special brown butter toffee flavored syrup.”
The menu doesn’t stop at coffee. The shop also serves baked goods like Danishes, muffins, and bagels. If you’re craving something more substantial, breakfast sandwiches on croissants and bagels are available. Later in the day, customers can grab lunch items, including the crowd-favorite blackened turkey and cheese sandwich, complete with mayo, red onions, and pickled jalapeños.
Supporting Local, One Cup at a Time
One thing that makes Smyrna Coffee stand out? Their commitment to local sourcing.
- The espresso and drip coffee come from Marietta-based Two Jays Coffee.
- Baked goods arrive fresh from Engelman’s Bakery, a wholesale company in Norcross.
“We wanted to bring other businesses in our community in and share the love,” Diaz Miles explained.
This commitment to supporting fellow small businesses is resonating with customers. Ana Baldwin, a Smyrna resident, stopped by with her 2-year-old daughter, Lily, for a mother-daughter coffee date. “The food was fresh and I think that’s the most important part,” Baldwin said. “It’s our hobby to visit coffee shops in the area … Why not support someone local?”
More Than Just Coffee—A Community Space
For Diaz Miles and her husband Greg, opening Smyrna Coffee wasn’t just about business. It was about building a space that felt like home.
“We love to host people in our home, and I just want this to be an extension of my home,” Diaz Miles said. “That’s why I wanted it to be a small, intimate shop … The love of coffee just comes from things that we enjoy together.”
The cozy atmosphere and friendly service reflect that sentiment, making Smyrna Coffee more than just a place to grab a cup of joe. It’s a gathering spot, a morning ritual, and a new favorite for Smyrna residents.
