Two Columbus Fast-Food Chains Receive B Ratings in Recent Health Inspections

Health inspections can be a nerve-wracking experience for restaurants, and this week, two Columbus fast-food spots landed in the B range. While not failing grades, the scores indicate room for improvement.

Bojangles Scores an 89

Bojangles, located at 3264 Victory Drive, earned an 89 in its latest health inspection. Not the worst, but certainly not something to brag about. Inspectors found multiple issues that needed fixing.

  • A handwashing sink lacked hot water and paper towels.
  • No proper sanitization methods were in place for cooking equipment and utensils.
  • A three-compartment sink was missing a faucet, raising sanitation concerns.

These violations are considered significant but correctable. The popular fried chicken chain will need to address these issues quickly to maintain compliance.

Subway Scores an 87

The Subway at 5600 Milgen Road fared slightly worse, scoring an 87 on its recent inspection. One of the key violations involved improper water temperature.

The inspector noted that a handwashing sink was not running at the required minimum temperature of 59 degrees. This must be fixed within 10 days of the inspection. Additionally, certain food items were not kept at safe temperatures, a critical issue in food safety.

A Few Restaurants Nailed a Perfect 100

While Bojangles and Subway have some work to do, other Columbus eateries aced their inspections. Three local restaurants scored a flawless 100 this week:

  • First Watch at 2528 Weems Road
  • 13th Street BBQ at 5506 Veterans Parkway
  • Burger King at 5901 Miller Road

A perfect score means these establishments met all health and safety requirements with no violations. For customers looking for reassurance about cleanliness, these spots are solid choices.
