UNDP Georgia Empowers Women Entrepreneurs in Regional Areas

In a concerted effort to uplift women entrepreneurs across Georgia’s diverse regions, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) continues its unwavering support. Recently, Zestaponi hosted an exhibition and sale, showcasing products crafted by talented women entrepreneurs. With UNDP Georgia’s backing, these women are making significant strides in their businesses.

Fostering Economic Independence

The collaboration between UNDP Georgia and the Embassy of Sweden in Tbilisi falls under the ‘UN Joint Program for Gender Equality in Georgia.’ By providing inventory to the municipality, UNDP ensures that local communities can actively participate in similar events in the future. This initiative not only empowers women economically but also strengthens their role in society.

A Blueprint for Success

UNDP’s commitment extends beyond mere support. The Women Entrepreneurs’ Program, established in partnership with the Bank of Georgia, offers a comprehensive approach to business development. This unique model, known as 360-Degree Business Development Support, equips women with theoretical knowledge, practical tools, access to financial resources, and a robust cooperation network. Together, these elements create a blueprint for success, inspiring the establishment of thriving business ventures.

Closing the Gender Gap

Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, UNDP Assistant Administrator, emphasizes the importance of closing the gender gap. She states, “Empowering women to determine their careers and their place in society is a business imperative.” UNDP’s growing cooperation with the private sector plays a pivotal role in achieving this goal.
