O2 Recycle for Business relaunched with new features
O2 UK, the mobile network operator that is part of Virgin Media O2, has announced the relaunch of its O2 Recycle for Business service, which aims to help businesses of all sizes trade in their old technology and receive cash back, credit towards new devices, or donate funds to charity. The service is available for handsets, tablets and wearables, and supports both O2 business customers and non-O2 customers.
According to O2 UK, the O2 Recycle for Business service has processed more than 3.8 million business and consumer devices since its launch in 2009, saving over 450 tonnes of waste from going to landfill. The service also claims to have saved more than £400,000 for businesses in the last year, recycling 26,000 devices with zero waste to landfill.
The relaunched service offers some new features, such as:
- Free bulk collections and free single device returns
- Data is wiped from devices in accordance with compliance standards
- Opportunity to donate a percentage of recycle value to O2’s partnered climate charity: The Good Things Foundation
- Cash to purchase new devices can be credited to the O2 account or bank account
How to use O2 Recycle for Business
To use the O2 Recycle for Business service, businesses need to follow these steps:
- Register the business and search for the phone, tablet or wearable on the O2 Recycle for Business portal
- Add item(s) to the basket and go to the checkout to place the order
- Delete any data from the device and remove the sim or memory card
- Package the devices and book a courier, or for single devices, take the prepaid package to the Post Office
- Receive the recycle credit to the O2 account or payment via BACS once the device is received and assessed
- Spend the recycle value on new devices or donate it to charity
O2’s sustainability commitment
The relaunch of O2 Recycle for Business is part of O2’s sustainability commitment, which is to ensure 95% of waste is recycled responsibly and fulfil 10 million circular actions by the end of 2025. The company also aims to extend the life of devices through circular solutions such as repairing, recycling and reselling refurbished devices.
