The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Minister of Culture and Sports Tinatin Rukhadze, marking the launch of a facility that promises to elevate the nation’s aquatic sports scene.
A Modern Hub for Water Sports
The new center, which received a GEL 7 million investment, features cutting-edge infrastructure designed to support the training and development of athletes in canoeing and rowing. The facility includes modern accommodations, conference rooms, and all the necessary amenities to host major sporting events. With its strategic location in Maltakva, which boasts a water-rich landscape ideal for water sports, the center offers perfect training conditions that athletes have long advocated for.
A Vision for International Competitions
The primary goal of the center is to promote water sports across Georgia and provide a venue for international aquatic competitions. It will also serve as a key training ground for athletes aiming to compete at the highest levels. The center has a rich history, as it was significantly shaped by Olympic champion Viktor Kratasyuk, who has long been associated with Georgian rowing.
As part of its mission, the facility will help nurture the next generation of Georgian rowing and canoeing champions, giving them the resources and environment needed to succeed on the global stage.
