Victim in serious but stable condition
A shooting on Kenneth Dunham Street in Savannah left one person injured early Sunday morning, according to the Savannah Police Department (SPD). The victim was found in his vehicle with a gunshot wound and damage to his vehicle around 1:24 a.m. He was treated at the scene and transported to Memorial University Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services. He is in serious but stable condition, SPD said.
No suspects or motive identified

Shooting adds to rising crime rate in Savannah
The shooting on Kenneth Dunham Street is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have plagued Savannah in recent months. According to SPD statistics, there have been 23 homicides, 76 aggravated assaults with a gun, and 163 shootings in the city so far this year. These numbers are higher than the same period last year, when there were 18 homicides, 58 aggravated assaults with a gun, and 115 shootings.
SPD Chief Roy Minter said that the department is working hard to address the crime problem and has increased patrols, surveillance, and community engagement. He also urged the public to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious activity or information.
Residents express fear and frustration
The shooting on Kenneth Dunham Street has shaken the residents of the neighborhood, who said they are afraid for their safety and frustrated by the lack of solutions. One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said that he heard several gunshots and saw the victim’s car crashed into a fence. He said that he has lived in the area for over 20 years and has witnessed the deterioration of the neighborhood.
Another resident, who also did not want to reveal her name, said that she is scared to go outside at night and worries about her children. She said that she hopes that the police can catch the perpetrators and prevent further violence.
