PM Modi Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack, Vows Harsh Response

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists on April 22, 2025. In his monthly radio address, “Mann Ki Baat,” Modi expressed deep anguish over the attack, which he said came at a time when Kashmir was witnessing a period of peace and prosperity.

Kashmir’s Revival Threatened

Modi described the timing of the attack as a desperate attempt by terrorist groups and their backers to undo the progress made in the region. According to the Prime Minister, Kashmir had seen a significant resurgence in recent years, with increased tourism, rising incomes, and improved opportunities for local youth.

“Peace was returning to Kashmir,” Modi stated. “There was vibrancy in schools and colleges, construction work was at unprecedented pace, and people’s income was increasing. This, however, did not sit well with the forces that want to see Kashmir destroyed again.”

The Pahalgam attack, in which tourists were targeted at a popular picnic spot, marks a stark reminder of the persistent threat of terrorism in the region. The Prime Minister highlighted the cowardice of those behind the attack, emphasizing their aim to disrupt the newfound stability in Kashmir.

Global Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism

Modi assured the Indian public that those responsible for the attack would face the “harshest response” and that global support in the fight against terrorism was unwavering. He reinforced the message that every Indian, irrespective of their background, shared the collective pain of the victims’ families.

“The blood of every Indian is boiling after seeing the images of the attack,” said Modi. “The anger that we feel is felt across the world. The entire world stands with India in this fight.”

The Prime Minister’s address also reinforced India’s resolve to continue confronting terrorism, stressing the unity and solidarity of over 1.4 billion Indians as the country’s greatest strength.

A Nation United Against Terrorism

Modi’s message was clear: India would not be deterred by the violence of terrorism. The unity of the nation, he stated, was its biggest weapon in the ongoing battle against terror. He reiterated his commitment to bringing justice to the affected families, promising that perpetrators and masterminds behind the attack would face justice.

As the investigation continues, India’s resolve against terrorism grows stronger, with Modi urging the country to bolster its efforts and show resilience in the face of these challenges.
