How did the community react?

The stabbing shocked and saddened the residents and business owners of Logan Square, a diverse and vibrant neighborhood on the northwest side of Chicago.

“It’s very scary. It’s very sad. It’s very unfortunate,” said Maria Gonzalez, who owns a nearby restaurant. “We’re all trying to make a living here and we’re all trying to be safe.”

Gonzalez said she has seen an increase in crime and violence in the area recently, and she hopes the police will do more to protect the community.

“I hope they catch him. I hope they find him. I hope they bring justice to this woman and her family,” she said.

Some residents said they are worried about their safety and avoid going out at night.

“I don’t feel safe anymore. I don’t walk around here after dark,” said Jessica Smith, who lives near the laundromat. “You never know what can happen. You never know who can attack you.”

Others said they are not deterred by the stabbing and will continue to support their local businesses.

“I think it’s an isolated incident. I don’t think it reflects the whole neighborhood,” said David Jones, who frequents the laundromat. “I’m not going to let this stop me from coming here. This is my community.”
