ASB Georgia Implements SkyHydrant System to Ensure Clean Water in Emergencies

In a proactive step towards enhancing disaster response capabilities, ASB Georgia has successfully tested the SkyHydrant water filtration system at key locations, including the Kura River near Borjomi and the Tbilisi Sea. This innovative technology is designed to provide clean drinking water during emergencies, a critical need when traditional water sources may be compromised.

Innovative Water Filtration for Crisis Situations

The SkyHydrant system stands out for its impressive capacity to produce up to 500 liters of safe drinking water per hour.

  • Key Features of the SkyHydrant System:
    • Capable of transforming contaminated water sources into potable water.
    • Designed for rapid deployment in emergency situations.
    • Easily scalable based on the dimensions of existing water storage facilities.

Clemens Von Heimendahl, the Country Director of ASB Georgia and Armenia, emphasized the system’s importance in ensuring that households have access to clean water during crises. This capability is vital for communities facing natural disasters or humanitarian emergencies, where access to safe drinking water can be severely limited.

A Collaborative Effort for Disaster Preparedness

The testing of the SkyHydrant system is part of a broader initiative titled ‘Stronger Together – Cooperative Action to Respond to Cross-border Emergencies between Georgia and Armenia.’ This project is funded by the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) and aims to bolster disaster risk management systems in both countries.

  • Project Goals:
    • Enhance health emergency preparedness in Georgia and Armenia.
    • Build capacity for effective disaster response.
    • Establish cross-border cooperation mechanisms for better resource sharing.

This collaborative effort underscores the importance of regional partnerships in addressing shared challenges, particularly in the face of increasing natural disasters and health emergencies.

Commitment to Vulnerable Communities

ASB Georgia is dedicated to making a lasting impact on vulnerable communities by equipping them with the tools necessary to face emergencies. The implementation of the SkyHydrant system is just one of the many innovative solutions being introduced to improve disaster resilience in the region.

  • Long-term Objectives:
    • Ensure communities are better prepared for emergencies.
    • Safeguard health and well-being through access to essential resources.
    • Foster sustainable practices that enhance community resilience.

Through these initiatives, ASB Georgia continues to lead efforts in improving access to clean water and other critical resources, ultimately contributing to the overall safety and health of the populations they serve.
