Two business leaders from Kidderminster have shared their success story of a 16-year partnership that has benefited both their companies and the local economy. Nick Marlow and Susan Marlow, the directors of Minster Micro Computers Ltd and Minster Logistics Software Ltd, have praised the value of working with local suppliers and customers.
How it all started
The Marlows started their IT solutions business, Minster Micro, in 1981, providing hardware, software, and support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Wyre Forest area. In 2007, they acquired Minster Logistics, a software company that specialises in warehouse management systems for the food and drink industry.
The acquisition was a strategic move to diversify their portfolio and expand their customer base. Minster Logistics had been a long-term client of Minster Micro, using their IT infrastructure and services. The Marlows saw the potential of combining their expertise and resources to offer a complete package of IT solutions to the logistics sector.
The benefits of local collaboration
Since then, the two companies have worked closely together, sharing office space, staff, and customers. They have also forged strong relationships with other local businesses, such as Bewdley Brewery, Westons Cider, and Teme Valley Brewery, who use their software and hardware products.
The Marlows believe that working with local suppliers and customers has given them a competitive edge and a loyal following. They say that they can offer more personalised and responsive service, as well as support the local economy and community.
