Teen murder suspect turns himself in after sheriff’s warning

A 17-year-old boy who was wanted for the murder of a 20-year-old man in Clayton County, Georgia, has surrendered to the authorities after the sheriff’s office issued a stern message to him on social media.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office posted a message on its Facebook page on Friday, addressing the teen murder suspect, identified as Javon Dukes. The message read:

“Javon Dukes you are wanted for Murder in Clayton County. You have until 5:00 pm today to turn yourself in. If you do not turn yourself in by 5:00 pm we will find you. We will find you at your home, your mama’s home, your grandma’s home, your auntie and uncle’s home, your girlfriend’s home, or wherever you may be hiding. We will find you. You have until 5:00 pm today to turn yourself in. This is your only warning.”

The message was accompanied by a photo of Dukes and a flyer with his information and charges. The sheriff’s office also asked the public to help locate the suspect and urged anyone with information to call 911 or the sheriff’s office tip line.

Suspect surrenders before deadline

According to the sheriff’s office, Dukes turned himself in at the Clayton County Jail before the 5:00 pm deadline on Friday. He was booked on charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Dukes is accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Jalen Camron on Wednesday night at the Tara Woods Apartments in Riverdale. Camron was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

Sheriff praises community for cooperation

Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen thanked the community for their cooperation and assistance in locating the suspect. He also praised his deputies and investigators for their hard work and dedication.

“I am proud of the men and women of the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office for their relentless pursuit of justice. They did not rest until this dangerous suspect was off the streets and behind bars. I also want to thank the citizens of Clayton County for their support and tips. Together, we are making Clayton County a safer place for everyone,” Allen said in a statement.
