16 Protesters Arrested During Rally in Tbilisi

In Tbilisi, police detained 16 individuals during a protest that took place on Chavchavadze and Melikishvili avenues earlier this morning. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) confirmed that all the arrests were made administratively, with three individuals already released.

Police Disperse Protesters, Confrontation Ensues

The protest had begun the previous night, with demonstrators setting up camp on Chavchavadze Avenue. Law enforcement officers arrived at dawn and urged the protesters to disband. When the protesters refused to comply, police dismantled their tents, leading to a physical confrontation between some participants and the authorities.

Despite the dispersal efforts, the protesters regrouped and moved to Melikishvili Street. They are currently gathering near the Philharmonic Hall, continuing their rally.
