Students share their views with district leaders at Smith’s event

On Wednesday, January 24, 2023, Smith Elementary School hosted the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, a group of students from different schools who meet regularly to discuss educational issues and provide feedback to the district leaders. The event was attended by Superintendent Dr. Morcease J. Beasley, Board of Education Chair Dr. Pam Adamson, and other district officials.

The purpose of the council

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council was established in 2022 to give students a voice in the decision-making process of the district. The council consists of 25 students from grades 4 to 12, who represent the diversity of the district’s student population. The council members are selected through an application and interview process, and serve for one school year.
