Mahindra Closes March 2025 on a High Note with 23% YoY Growth Across Segments

Mahindra Auto wrapped up March 2025 with strong sales figures, showing robust growth across its passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and farm equipment segments. The company reported a total sales volume of 83,894 units, marking a 23% year-on-year (YoY) increase, reinforcing its position as one of India’s leading automakers.

SUV Sales Surge with 18% Growth

Mahindra’s SUV lineup continues to dominate the Indian market. The company sold 48,048 SUVs in the domestic market last month, a significant 18% YoY jump from 40,631 units in March 2024. This growth translates to an additional 7,414 units sold.

  • Year-to-date (YTD), Mahindra’s SUV sales reached 5,51,487 units, reflecting a 20% YoY growth.
  • Total SUV sales, including exports, stood at 50,835 units in March 2025.
  • Compared to February 2025’s 50,420 units, March saw a slight decline of 4.7%, losing 2,372 units.

Mahindra’s performance in the SUV space remains unmatched in India, where every single passenger vehicle sold was an SUV.

Commercial Vehicles: Mixed Performance Across Segments

Mahindra’s commercial vehicle (CV) segment presented a mixed performance in March. While some categories saw significant growth, others registered a decline.

  • The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment (2T – 3.5T capacity) led the charge with an impressive 23% YoY growth, selling 18,958 units.
  • LCVs below 2T capacity faced challenges, registering a 12% YoY decline with 3,530 units sold.
  • The LCV >3.5T+MHCV segment also struggled, witnessing a 4% dip in sales at 1,463 units.
  • The three-wheeler (3W) CV segment saw remarkable growth, selling 7,752 units—up 47% from 5,279 units in March 2024.

Mahindra’s export game was particularly strong, shipping 4,143 units in March, a staggering 163% increase from 1,573 units a year ago.

Tractors and Farm Equipment Shine with 34% Growth

Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) had a standout performance, posting an overall 34% YoY growth in tractor sales.

  • Domestic tractor sales stood at 32,582 units, a 34% increase from last year.
  • Export sales reached 2,352 units, up 35% YoY.
  • Combined domestic and export tractor sales hit 34,934 units.

Favorable weather conditions, strong reservoir levels, and a promising Rabi crop outlook contributed to this surge. The ongoing harvest season, coupled with increased cash flow among farmers, is expected to keep sales momentum strong in the upcoming quarter.

Statements from Mahindra Leadership

Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, highlighted the company’s strong year-end performance: “In March, we sold a total of 48,048 SUVs, with a growth of 18% and 83,894 total vehicles, a 23% growth over last year. We also started deliveries of our Electric Origin SUVs, which have been met with strong demand.”

Hemant Sikka, President of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector, credited the positive sales momentum to favorable market conditions: “We have sold 32,582 tractors in the domestic market during March 2025, a growth of 34% over last year. The harvest season has commenced, and we expect strong momentum in Q1 FY26 due to good Rabi crop output and improved farmer cash flow.”

With strong demand across its key segments, Mahindra is set for continued growth in the coming months.
