The tech sector has been hit hard by the pandemic, with many companies laying off workers or cutting costs. But some employers still offer great opportunities for tech workers to grow their careers and enjoy a positive work environment. Forbes has compiled a list of the best employers for tech workers in 2023, based on a comprehensive survey and data analysis. Here’s how they did it.
The Survey Methodology
To create the inaugural list of the best employers for tech workers, Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista and surveyed tech workers at American companies that employ at least 1,000 people in the United States and have a significant portion of their employees dedicated to tech and IT work. The survey was conducted online from June to August 2023, with more than 20,000 responses.
Participants were asked if they would recommend their employer to friends and family; they also rated the company based on criteria such as wages, work hours and inclusivity. Additionally, respondents were asked whether they would recommend other employers within their respective industries.
The Data Analysis
The survey results were then combined with other data sources to evaluate the companies based on 20 key factors, including health benefits, training opportunities, remote or flexible work options, diversity and inclusion initiatives, social responsibility, innovation and growth potential.
The data sources included company websites, annual reports, press releases, employee reviews on Glassdoor and Indeed, industry rankings and awards, and news articles. Statista also used its own proprietary databases and algorithms to measure the companies’ performance and reputation.
The final score for each company was calculated by weighting the survey results (70%) and the data analysis (30%). The top 200 companies made the final list of the best employers for tech workers in 2023.
