Murder Suspect Arrested After Hours-Long Standoff in Hampton

A woman who allegedly shot and killed a man in Clayton County was found hiding in her attic after a standoff with police that lasted for several hours, according to authorities.

The Shooting Incident

The incident began on Thursday night, when police responded to a report of a shooting at the Redwood Ridge Apartments on Morrow Road in Forest Park. There, they found 47-year-old Andre Farrier, who had been shot multiple times. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

According to the Clayton County Police Department, Farrier had been involved in a disagreement with a woman who was seen leaving the property immediately after the shooting. The woman was identified as 25-year-old Oni Layell Hart, who was considered a person of interest and then a suspect in the case.

The Standoff and Arrest

On Friday morning, police located Hart at her home in the 1700 block of Fielding Way in Hampton. They attempted to get her to surrender peacefully, but she refused to cooperate. A SWAT team was called in to assist, and neighbors were evacuated from the area.

After several hours of negotiations, police used flash bangs to enter the house and found Hart hiding in the attic. She was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.

The Charges and Investigation

Hart is facing multiple charges, including felony murder, aggravated assault, prostitution, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and obstruction of an officer. She is being held at the Clayton County Jail, awaiting a court appearance.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case, and is asking anyone with relevant information to contact them.

This is the second homicide that occurred in the same neighborhood in less than a year, raising concerns about the safety and security of the residents.
