Georgia and Sweden Strengthen Bilateral and Multilateral Cooperation

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia, Anna Lyberg, on February 28, 2024. The meeting focused on the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in both bilateral and multilateral formats, and the prospects for deepening it further.

Sweden: A Reliable Partner for Georgia

The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed his gratitude to Sweden for its consistent support for Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and European and Euro-Atlantic integration. He also thanked Sweden for its contribution to the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia, which plays a vital role in ensuring peace and stability in the region.

The Prime Minister of Georgia and the Ambassador of Sweden discussed the ongoing reforms in Georgia aimed at strengthening democracy, rule of law, human rights, and good governance. They also highlighted the importance of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, which provide a solid framework for Georgia’s political and economic integration with the EU.

The Prime Minister of Georgia noted that Sweden is a reliable partner for Georgia, and that the bilateral relations between the two countries are based on mutual respect, trust, and shared values.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, David Zalkaliani, and other high-ranking officials from the Georgian government.
