Veteran Chef Mimmo Alboumeh Expands His Culinary Footprint with a New Concept
Brookhaven is about to get a fresh taste of Mexican-American cuisine. Acclaimed chef Mimmo Alboumeh is set to open his latest restaurant, Chico Cantina, at 705 Town Boulevard. This new eatery will be a sister concept to Botica, Alboumeh’s existing establishment known for its fusion of Spanish, Mexican, and Mediterranean flavors.
A New Tenant in a Familiar Spot
Chico Cantina will take over the space previously occupied by Red Pepper Taqueria, which closed its doors in December 2024. Situated within Town Brookhaven, a bustling mixed-use development off Peachtree Road, the location offers prime visibility. Other well-known dining spots in the area include 26 Thai Sushi & Bar, HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern, Flying Biscuit Café, and Costa Coffee, making it a hub for food lovers.
A Menu Inspired by a Rich Culinary Journey
Alboumeh’s diverse background plays a major role in shaping his menus. Born in Lebanon and raised in Spain and Italy, the chef has spent decades refining his culinary style, incorporating flavors from different regions into his cooking.
His existing restaurant, Botica, which opened in 2021, has gained a loyal following with its chef-driven approach to Mexican and Spanish cuisine. The menu features tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and a variety of appetizers, including empanadas, oysters, and halibut ceviche. With Chico Cantina, Alboumeh aims to build on this success while introducing new flavors and experiences for diners.
Lunch, Dinner, and Weekend Brunch on the Horizon
Chico Cantina will offer a full range of dining options:
- Lunch and dinner service with a menu expected to include bold, vibrant flavors.
- A weekend brunch featuring signature dishes and creative cocktails.
- A bar program designed to complement the menu, likely showcasing craft margaritas and specialty tequila-based drinks.
While the restaurant’s official menu details have yet to be released, those familiar with Alboumeh’s work can expect high-quality, chef-driven cuisine that blends tradition with innovation.
Chico Cantina is Hiring Ahead of Spring Opening
As excitement builds, the team behind Chico Cantina is gearing up for opening day. The restaurant has started hiring staff, including hosts, servers, managers, bartenders, and food runners.
Chico Cantina LLC was officially registered with the Georgia Secretary of State’s office in November 2024, signaling the early steps in bringing this new concept to life. While no official opening date has been announced, the restaurant is expected to launch in spring 2025.
