New Principal for Arnold Elementary School Announced

Clayton County Public Schools has appointed Dr. Tiffany Chapman as the new principal of J.W. Arnold Elementary School in Jonesboro, Georgia. Dr. Chapman will replace Dr. Lisa Green, who retired in June after serving as the principal for six years.

Dr. Chapman’s Background and Experience

Dr. Chapman has over 20 years of experience in education, starting as a kindergarten teacher in 2000. She has worked as a curriculum specialist, an instructional coach, an assistant principal, and a principal in various schools in Clayton County. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Fort Valley State University, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Troy University, a specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University, and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University.

Dr. Chapman is passionate about providing a high-quality education for all students and creating a positive school culture. She believes in fostering collaborative relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community. She is also committed to implementing innovative and research-based instructional practices that enhance student achievement and growth.

Dr. Chapman’s Vision and Goals for Arnold Elementary School

Dr. Chapman shared her vision and goals for Arnold Elementary School in a letter to the school community. She stated that she wants to build on the school’s strengths and achievements, such as being a Georgia Department of Education STEM Certified School and a Title I Distinguished School. She also wants to address the areas of improvement identified by the school’s Comprehensive Needs Assessment, such as increasing student proficiency in reading and math, reducing chronic absenteeism, and improving parent and family engagement.

Some of the strategies that Dr. Chapman plans to implement to achieve these goals include:

  • Providing ongoing professional learning and coaching for teachers to enhance their instructional skills and use of data
  • Utilizing a balanced literacy approach and a rigorous math curriculum to ensure that students master the Georgia Standards of Excellence
  • Implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to provide academic and behavioral interventions for students who need them
  • Establishing a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system to promote a safe and respectful learning environment
  • Developing a School Improvement Team (SIT) and a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to foster collaboration and communication among stakeholders
  • Organizing various events and activities to celebrate student achievements and showcase student work

Dr. Chapman expressed her excitement and gratitude for joining the Arnold Elementary School community. She said that she is looking forward to meeting and working with the staff, students, parents, and partners.
