Beijing’s Big Air Shougang is a ski jump platform built for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and was the first newly built arena to be finished in the Beijing competition zone on October 31, 2019. The venue is a remarkable example of industrial transformation, as it was constructed on the site of a former steel mill. The platform is 164 meters high and covers an area of 90,000 square meters, making it the largest and highest of its kind in the world. It can accommodate up to 10,000 spectators and will host the snowboarding and freestyle skiing events in the upcoming Winter Olympics.

A Test Event for the World’s Best Athletes

From December 11 to 13, 2023, Beijing’s Big Air Shougang hosted a test event for the FIS Freeski and Snowboard World Cup, attracting more than 100 athletes from 18 countries and regions. The event was a rehearsal for the Winter Olympics, as well as a showcase of the venue’s readiness and the athletes’ skills. The participants competed in the men’s and women’s big air disciplines, performing spectacular jumps and tricks on the massive ramp.
