Adjara Group, led by Temur Ugulava, is set to take charge of the extensive renovation of the iconic Tbilisi Sports Palace, with plans for a major transformation aimed at modernizing the facility for cultural and sporting events. The renovation is expected to be completed by late 2026.
Revamping Tbilisi’s Iconic Sports Facility
Under the terms of a new agreement, the management of Tbilisi Sports Palace will transition to Ugulava’s company, Adjara Group, in early 2025. This marks a significant step forward in the ongoing effort to revitalize the aging facility, which has been under Ugulava’s independent management since 2007. Over the years, the facility has seen investments totaling approximately USD 5 million, but the upcoming overhaul will introduce more substantial changes.
The renovation project will not only focus on upgrading the Sports Palace itself but also revamping the surrounding areas. This comprehensive redevelopment aims to transform the venue into a modern, multifaceted space that can accommodate a variety of cultural and sports-related events.
A New Era for the Sports Palace
According to Berishvili, the Asset Management Director at Adjara Group, the project will modernize the Sports Palace to meet contemporary standards, providing a more versatile environment for entertainment, sports, and community events. The updates are expected to boost the venue’s appeal and functionality, making it a more attractive location for both local and international events.
With the completion date set for late 2026, Tbilisi residents and visitors can look forward to a revitalized Sports Palace that will play a key role in the city’s cultural and sporting landscape for years to come.
