UFC 6’s EA Play Trial Sold Hours, Not the Vault

EA Play’s 10-hour UFC 6 trial ran beside FC 26 joining The Play List, then stayed the access path after the June 19 launch.

EA Play members got a 10-hour UFC 6 trial on June 12, 2026, a week before the $69.99 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Progress carried into a paid copy. The discount on the way out was 10%.

The June 12 member note on Xbox Wire that unlocked those hours also put EA Sports FC 26 on The Play List six days later. UFC 6 stayed on a countdown.

The 10-Hour Clock Starts When You Launch

Juliet Niczewicz, EA’s senior director of corporate communications, wrote that members could earn a place in the Octagon with a 10-hour trial of the Standard Edition and keep every bit of progress if they bought the full game. The clock starts at first launch, not at download, and it covers menus, modes, and online play in any mix.

EA Play’s 10-hour trials are not a pause-friendly preview. EA Help tells members to quit the game fully when they stop, because time keeps draining if the title is left running in the background, and extra hours cannot be added after the meter hits zero. Xbox Support says expired trial time cannot be reinstated, and neither Xbox Support nor EA Help can adjust it.

HOW THE UFC 6 TRIAL METER RUNS

  • The start: The 10 hours begin the first time you launch, not when the install finishes.
  • What counts: Menus, offline modes, and online play all draw from the same pool.
  • The quit rule: Leaving the game running in the background keeps the countdown moving.
  • After zero: Support cannot restore time; continued play needs a paid copy, and trial progress carries over.

That design makes the preview feel generous until you sit in Fighter Select. Reviewers flagged laggy menus in the same week the trial opened, which is a problem when the meter treats a pause screen like a fight. Ultimate Edition buyers were already in the full game that same Thursday, with seven days of early access from June 12 through June 18.

EA Play posted the date in May, while UFC 5 was still the title it was pushing in the cage.

FC 26 Joined the Library the Same Week

The June member slate treated two EA Sports launches as different products. FC 26 was scheduled to hit The Play List on June 18, with a Supercharge Pack for Football Ultimate Team through July 17. UFC 6 was listed for a Welcome Pack of cosmetics and a 10-hour look, not unlimited play.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes EA Play, so the trial sat inside that subscription on Xbox. PlayStation 5 owners needed EA Play itself. There was no PC build, so an EA Play seat on Windows did not open UFC 6 in the EA app or the Xbox app on PC.

THE WEEK THE VAULT SPLIT

  1. June 12, 2026: The EA Play 10-hour trial and Ultimate Edition early access open on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  2. June 18, 2026: EA Sports FC 26 joins The Play List; EA is still targeting a July patch for UFC 6’s Flow State visuals.
  3. June 19, 2026: Standard Edition unlocks at 11 AM EDT. EA repeats that members can try the game for up to 10 hours.
  4. Late September 2026: Members are still loading UFC 6 as an EA Play trial, including alongside other 10-hour sports trials.

EA never posted a Play List date for UFC 6 in that window. The official UFC 6 EA Play page kept selling the trial, the Welcome Pack, and the 10% cut, while The Play List examples on that page pointed at titles such as Madden NFL 26. Some members who paid for EA Play on launch day got kicked after an hour or two and were told to buy the full game while the store page was still catching up, which is a rotten first hour for a meter you cannot refill.

What the Trial Lets You Sample

Electronic Arts said UFC 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with Markerless Capture, Sapien Technology, and Frostbite ragdoll physics under a system it calls Real-Time Contact. Nate McDonald, lead producer, called the game a leap forward and said Signature Strikes and Flow State make each fighter more distinct.

Every new edition gets better and better. The intensity, movement, and overall gameplay are next level, bringing fight fans a fun and realistic gameplay experience.

Dana White, UFC president and CEO, EA launch statement

Flow State is 30 fighter-specific states built around pressure fighting, counter striking, grappling, and other habits. Lean into that style and the game builds momentum that unlocks an advantage. Hall of Legends mixes live footage, cinematics, and playable fights around three UFC stars. The Legacy is a prologue that follows prospect Chris Carter from regional cards toward the UFC, then hands off to Career Mode.

Career Mode, EA said, now has 10 times as many decision points as UFC 5, with the chance to hold two titles at once and fight for the BMF belt. Crossplay between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S arrives for the first time in the series, and it can be switched off in settings. Ten hours is enough to taste those systems. It is not enough to live in Career, The Gym, and ranked play without buying in.

Standard, Ultimate, and the 10% Nudge

The trial is the Standard Edition on a timer. The paid ladder sits next to it, and EA Play’s 10% discount applies to the full game, the Ultimate Add-on Bundle, point packs, and DLC. Standalone EA Play at $5.99 a month is $39.99 if you pay for the year.

WHAT EACH PATH ACTUALLY UNLOCKS

Path Price When you play What else you get
EA Play trial Included with EA Play 10 hours from first launch Welcome Pack cosmetics, 10% off digital EA purchases, progress carries over
Standard Edition $69.99 June 19, 2026 Base game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
Ultimate Edition $99.99 7 days from June 12 Randy Couture and Ken Shamrock at the start, Fighter Pass, Expansion Pass, VIP Pass

The Welcome Pack is cosmetics, not extra fighters. That matters if you expected the membership to pad the roster. Ultimate Edition is the product EA pointed at for people who wanted the full week and the pass stack, not a longer trial.

Critics Landed Near 79, Players Did Not

Metacritic’s score for EA Sports UFC 6 settled at 79 from 33 critic reviews, listed as Generally Favorable. The user score on the same tracker is 3.8 from 92 ratings, listed as Generally Unfavorable. That split is the hangover from a trial that converted curiosity into a $69.99 install before the argument about the new mechanic had even finished.

THE SCORE SPLIT AFTER LAUNCH

  • Critic aggregate: 79 on Metacritic from 33 reviews, Generally Favorable.
  • User aggregate: 3.8 from 92 ratings, Generally Unfavorable.
  • Street date: June 19, 2026, after seven days of Ultimate Edition play.
  • Wait: UFC 5 shipped in 2023, a three-year gap.

Nico Vergara scored the game 8 out of 10 and still called Flow State manufactured and gimmicky, like a Street Fighter move dropped into the Octagon. He wrote that most PvP brawls turned into a race to fill the meter. Other critics praised Hall of Legends and the striking while still flagging Career grind, recycled motion, and a thinner roster than older entries.

Players spent the early-access week on likeness misses, missing weight classes for stars, and a Flow State presentation that drains color and muffles audio. EA said some fighters from prior games are not on the current roster and that it would add names each month. That is a live-service answer to a buy-now question, which is a hard sell inside a 10-hour window.

July’s Toggle Did Not Remove Flow State

On June 18, the day before Standard Edition, EA published a community note from early access. Crashes and matchmaking problems had already drawn three stability updates. Balance work named stamina, takedown bails, and specific strike chains. Yves Gomes, a gameplay designer, walked through Closed Beta changes that were already live, including a Tiger Perk cut from 35% to 30% on curved punches.

While these presentation elements can be turned off, the underlying gameplay mechanics and Flow State’s functionality will remain unchanged.

EA SPORTS UFC 6, Early Access community update, June 18, 2026

The studio said it was building a setting to turn off Flow State visuals and audio online and offline, plus a HUD mark so both players still know when the state is active. It targeted July 2026 for that update. The mechanic, and the 30 fighter identities tied to it, stay in the sim.

That is the conversion problem in miniature. Ten hours is long enough to hit Flow State, decide you hate the black-and-white flash, and still lose the meter before a July toggle exists. Buying to keep your Career save is the path EA built. Waiting for the visual option is not.

The Paid Passes After the Free Hours

Once the trial ends, the catalog is a stack of add-ons. The Xbox Store has the Fighter Pass listed at $24.99, with eight legends including Randy Couture, Ken Shamrock, Tank Abbott, and Rich Franklin, plus four later drops. Ultimate Edition buyers get that pass in the bundle. Everyone else pays after the 10% EA Play cut, if they have the membership.

The Expansion Pass is dated Winter 2026 and Summer 2027, each expansion built around a new mode. Winter 2026 is still ahead of the calendar. The VIP Pass bundles fighter skins for names such as Jon Jones, Jiří Procházka, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, Khalil Rountree, and Henry Cejudo, plus cosmetics and ongoing boosts. EA kept a Fight Week cadence after launch; the UFC 332 update was set for September 29, 2026, at 10 am PT, with new rewards, roundhouse-kick fixes, added fighters, and ground-game tuning.

That post-launch calendar is why the missing Play List date is not a small omission. FC 26 went into unlimited member play in the same June note that introduced UFC 6 as a sample. Members were still burning UFC 6 trial hours in late September, which only happens if the vault door never opened. The 10-hour clock did what it was built to do. It handed people a save file, a 10% coupon, and a game that still asks for a paid copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the UFC 6 EA Play Trial Work on PC?

No. EA Sports UFC 6 shipped only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so an EA Play membership on Windows does not install it in the EA app or as a native Xbox app on PC title. UFC 5 could still appear as a cloud option for some Game Pass Ultimate users; UFC 6 did not get that PC path at launch.

Can Xbox or EA Restore Expired UFC 6 Trial Hours?

No. Xbox Support says once the 10 hours expire they cannot be reinstated, and remaining time cannot be topped up, a limit neither Xbox Support nor EA Help can change. Fully quitting the game is the only way to stop the countdown while you still have minutes left.

What Is in the EA Play Welcome Pack for UFC 6?

The Welcome Pack is a set of cosmetic items for the Octagon, not extra fighters, not a gameplay perk bundle, and not a substitute for the Fighter Pass. EA described it as a way for members to stand out, and it was listed as a limited-time claim beside the trial.

How Much Is EA Play if You Pay for a Full Year?

EA’s UFC 6 membership page lists EA Play at $5.99 a month or $39.99 for a year, and EA Play Pro at $16.99 a month or $119.99 for a year. Pro’s usual PC day-one perk does not apply here, because UFC 6 has no PC version.

What Does Career Mode Add Beyond UFC 5?

EA said Career Mode now includes 10 times as many choices as UFC 5, with higher stakes on progression, and players can fight for and defend two titles at the same time as well as contest the BMF belt. Created fighters, roster stars, and Chris Carter from The Legacy can all enter that path.
