Employees say the company violates U.S. legal rules that require prior notice before dismissing employees’ crimes have been expressed. Two employees of Tesla’s Giga factory in Nevada, USA, who claimed they were fired last June, filed a lawsuit against the company in a Texas court last Sunday.
They state in their petition that more than 500 workers were fired from the Nevada factory without any prior notice.
The 60-day notice period
states that workers must be given 60 days’ notice in the event of a massive layoff. But employees say Tesla has not complied.
A former employee said, “Tesla has announced that it will be laying off employees immediately.” Tesla has not yet commented on the total number of employees laid off from Tesla and the lawsuit filed by the employees.
Concerned Elon Musk
Elon Musk has previously revealed that Tesla is in a deep financial crisis. He told Reuters that about 10 percent of employees would have to be laid off to deal with the crisis.
Employees lamenting online
Employees of Tesla have been lamenting on social media that they have been fired. The petition seeks a court order requiring Tesla to pay 60 days’ compensation.
The lawyer representing the employees said that it was shocking that Tesla did not follow any legal rules and engaged in blatant irregularities. He accused Tesla of firing employees with just one week’s notice.
